Pictures Taken From My Walks Through Knaresborough Nidd Gorge And Lower Nidderdale

Welcome to this part of my site featuring pictures of my walk through Nidderdale starting from the historic market town of Knaresborough and finishing at Pateley Bridge situated further up the Dale. These pictures was taken on separate walks of this Dale during the summer of 2004/5 with the exception of picture 30 which is the recently opened Nidderdale Greenway which now fully links The Nidd Gorge between Ripley and Knaresborough. The Mother Shipton Inn. Nice pub, With beer garden and handy eating place, before touring the historic Mother Shiptons Cave. Taken 25.4.2004

The return of steam to Knaresborough. This is the Scarborough Spa Express passing over the viaduct and was taken in August 2007.

Coyningham Hall Park and golf course. Taken on a Sunday afternoon walk at Knaresborough on 25.4.2004.

17th Century cottages that dominate this part of Billton Lane. Taken on my walk from Knaresborough on 25.4.2004

Gardeners Arms Pub. Very old 16th century Inn with cosy log fires, and nice beer garden. Ideal pub for a drink on a sunday afternoon walk.

Site of old Bilton crossing. This line ran regular trains to Ripon and Northallerton, until it closed in 1967. It is now a cycle and walking path.

Bilton. This scene used to be the old railway level crosing and the viewing board in this picture, gives a detailed map of all the walks.

Nidd Gorge foot bridge and path to Scotton village, and where the famous Guy Fawks Lived.

Bilton Rapids. This Picture was taken on a afternoon summer walk in the summer of 2004

The Nidd Gorge footpath at Bilton. Taken on a summer walk 18.5.2004

The Nidd Viaduct at Bilton. This viaduct used to carrie all Northern traffic, until it closed in 1967, Taking the city of Ripon off the rail landmark.

The Knox estate at Bilton. You no longer have to detour through this village as the new opening of The Nidderdale Greenway now reunites Bilton.

The new Nidderdale Greenway walk and cycle route to Ripley and the Dales. This scene is at Killinghall Bridge by the River Nidd.

Entrance to the estate village of Ripley, Situated on the A61 Harrogate to Ripon road. Taken on my walk up to Pateley Bridge in the summer of 2004.

Ripley Village Centre. This picture was taken in the summer of 2004 while on my historic walk of Pateley Bridge from my home town of Harrogate.

Hampsthwaite Village. Situated about 3 miles southwest of Ripley and is noted as 1 of Nidderdale's best kept villages.

Brimham Rocks. Nidderdale's most popular beauty spots, Situated 9 miles north of Harrogate and also a site of many distant land marks

Nidderdale. This scene is looking over from 1 of Nidderdale's highest view points down into Pateley Bridge and taken during the summer of 2004.

Nidderdale. This scene is looking over the entire valley towards Birstwith and was taken during the summer of 2004.

Nidderdale. This scene is looking over towards Glasshouses situated further up the Nidd Valley and is 1 of my best picture views of this Dale.

Pateley Bridge. The Capital Town of Upper Nidderdale and holds its well enjoyed Autumn Agriculture show every September.
